Comprehensive Church Safety and Protection Training

This program is designed to train church safety and protection teams entrusted by their church and congregations in providing safety and protection to their members, guests, and pastors. Through a balanced curriculum of both classroom training and hands-on experience, students that graduate will be able to provide the best safety and protection to their members, guests, and pastors.

Curriculum

The four-day church safety and protection program will cover several of the critical components of church safety.

Day 1

  • Introduction to Church Safety and Protection
  • Introduction to Threat Assessment
  • Forming a Safety and Protection Team
  • Implementing Policy and Procedure
  • Homework: Students will fill out a Church Risk Identification Worksheet and select a Church Safety and Protection Team Director

Day 2

  • Go over Church Risk Identification Worksheets from Day 1
  • Intro to Users and Greeters as First Line of Safety and Protection
  • Securing the Church and Property
  • Crisis Planning and Evacuation Procedures
  • Child and Youth Protection
  • Intro to Financial Safeguards

Day 3

  • Transportation Safety
  • Travel (domestic and international)
  • Bombs and Biological Agent Identification
  • Medical Program
  • Intro to Protecting the Congregation (hands on scenarios)

Day 4

  • Church Safety and Protection Team Assignments
  • Protecting the Pastor and Family
  • Introduction to Safe Rooms / Panic Rooms
  • Hands on Scenarios with Pastor and Family Protection
